In 1968 a circus came to town and before they left a young man knew he had the clown calling…the burning desire to turn a frown into a smile…. to reach out to someone who's hurting and making them forget that hurt for a moment…to see the joy and wonder on a small child's face. Unfortunately, the real world had other ideas and for thirty years this calling stewed inside him. He was known as the guy who had all the snappy comebacks, the one everyone counted on to liven up any gathering. Then one day someone dear to him gave him the gift of Clowning 101 at Holyoke Community College and Papa Jamz was born.

Papa Jamz has been clowning since 2000 and has already won several awards for balloon sculpting (they call it 'twisting'), and one each for make-up and comedy skits. In January 2003, he won third place in multiple balloons and second place in makeup. He also assisted balloonist Mr. K teaching a 'twisting' seminar at the COAI 2002 Convention. But his greatest joy is bringing out the 'child' in his audience with his comedy magic routines and balloon shapes.

His experience includes birthday parties (ages 1 to 101), wedding receptions, restaurants, company picnics, parades, and fundraisers. This summer he was hired to teach clowning at a camp for troubled children in Greenfield MA. He volunteers regularly for the Special Olympics and Make a Wish, as well as helping his fellow clowns with their charities.
