EYEDROP THE CLOWN
aka Mister K, The Balloon Man

It all started in 1990 with a basic clowning course at Holyoke Community College. The instructor was Jack "Strawberry" Desrochers of Strawberry Productions Inc. of Chicopee, MA. The appeal of clowning, Jack's strict guidelines for performing as a clown and slight knack of the art were the basis of what grew into Eyedrop the Clown and later into Mister K. the Balloon Man, Dusty the Clown and Swami D The Comedy Palm Reader & Soothsayer.

During the class, Eyedrop developed a skill with balloon twisting and after the class he practiced not only with balloons, but also with his make up technique. He also practiced and put together a magic show and he learned beginning of face painting. After practicing many hours, reading any and all books, magazines he could on the 'Art of Clowning" and with a little practical experience Eyedrop joined the ranks of working clowns. A year later, he founded the Pioneer Valley Clown Alley #225 (P.V.C.A.), in May 1992. Which is chartered by the Clowns of America, International, Inc. (C.O.A.) the world's largest clown organization. Eyedrop was the first president and was reelected in 1996. He has also served as the Alley Secretary and Sergeant at Arms and was reelected as president in July 1998 and May 2001. During this time, Eyedrop also became a member of the World Clown Association (W.C.A.), and slow became and Mason and Shrine Clown with his membership to the Melha Shrine Clown Unit, the Northeast Shrine Clown Association (N.E.SC.A.) and the International Shrine Clown Association (I.S.C.A.). He is also active in other civic and fraternal organizations. Eyedrop was elected to the board of directors of the Northeast Clown Convention Council (N.E.C.C.C.) as Sergeant at Arms in August 1998 for a two-year term.

Eyedrop was a cochairman of the Northeast Clown Convention Council convention held in Springfield, MA in 1996. His area of responsibility included: workshop/lectures, dealers, competition, security, raffles, the banquet show and a dance. This was the first N.E.C.C.C. convention, which was the regional Clowns of America International convention in the Springfield, MA area. The convention was a huge success and the regional (Northeast) attendance record was broken and remains the new record.

During the next few years, Eyedrop began instructing "wannabe" clowns on makeup technique, clown history, ethics, professionalism, balloons, face painting, magic and more on a one on one basis. When the demand grew for instruction in the art, he began to teach small groups of four or five people. Then in 1996k, referred by his teacher, Strawberry, he began instruction as "basic clown" class at Westfield State College. In the fall of 1998, Eyedrop also began to teach the art form at Holyoke Community College. Where he started years before, again at the recommendation of his teacher, Jack Desrochers.

Eyedrop is also an award-winning clown having come in the Top Ten in the Northeast in costume and make up competition. He has several first-place awards in regional Single Balloon, Multiple Balloons, Speed and Artistic Balloon Competitions and numerous second and third place awards as well as Special Awards.

Today's he remains a "force" in the Western Massachusetts and New England area, by performing, clowning, balloon sculpturing, competing and teaching the art of clowning as well as balloon twisting. His peers respect him and he continues his ongoing quest for more knowledge about the "Art of Clowning" and balloon creations as well as developing into a creative, talented balloon sculptor and family entertainer.

Clowning and balloon twisting ahs become his life, his living, hobby and his obsession, If there is children, adults or other clowns around, Eyedrop will be talking about the art, doing balloon creations, or jamming with other balloon twisters. An avid reader, Eyedrop's education continues with each passing day. His favorite sayings are by Ray Kroc, the Founder of McDonald's which is "When your green, your growing. When you're ripe, you rot." Always be green! And, by Jimmy Buffet, "Life is not a dress rehearsal".
